Toxicity evaluation to honeybees

Evaluation on toxicity of Cymoxanil to environmental organism

1. Test purpose:
Determine the toxicity of cymoxanil tech to environmental organism as per ¡°documents requirements of pesticide registration¡± and ¡°Experimental Guideline for Environmental Safety Evaluation of Chemical Pesticides¡±. The aim is to grasp the environment safety of the product to provide scientific gist for rational application and registration.

2 . Materials:
Test pesticide: Cymoxanil 98% tech, white solid, was provided by Saturn.
Test animals:
--bird: Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica), healthy and 30-d instar with bodyweight 100g, half/sex. Feed for one week indoor under formal test condition in advance. No death or sickness appears. Stop feeding 24h in advance and don¡¯t feed during test period.
Tap water: disposed of chlorine by exposure for 24h. ph6.95 and dissolved oxygen 8-10mg/L

3 . Toxicology test method:
For bird: Adopt one-off perfusion method by stomach. Feed quails with test pesticide at designed dosage concentration as per 0.5ml/100g. Do a pre-test to determine lowest dosage concentration and highest dosage concentration. In formal test, set 5 disposal within the range. Use water as blank contrast. Every group included 10 quails (half/sex). Before formal test, dissolve Cymoxanil into water to get designed concentration. Observe poisoning symptoms and death ratio in 48h, 72h and 96h.

4. Results
Toxicology to bird: after treatment, quails showed poisoning symptoms including hiccough, deglutition, foaming, plume puffing, quiver and lossing barycenter. Death showed in high dosage concentration group. No poisoning appeared in contrast group. The results showed LD50(96h) for quail was 3275.5mg/kg. Cymoxanil is low toxic to bird.
