Irritancy to skin and eye

Acute irritancy to skin to rabbits

1. Test purpose:
Determine if the tested pesticide irritates or erodes the mammal skin. Estimate the possible similar harm when human touch the pesticide.

2. Materials and method:

2.1 test pesticide: Cymoxanil tech was provided by Saturn Agrochemical Inc.

2.2 test animals: 4 white adult rabbits, half/sex with weight 2.0-2.2kg were provided by Nanjing Medical University Animals Center. All the animals were observed for one week before test, drank and fed freely. Environment temperature of feeding animals was 20”Ą2”ę, humidity was 50%-80 % and it was well ventilated. All rabbits were healthy without skin trauma.

2.3 test method:
All rabbits were removed hair for 2.5 ”Į 2.5 square centimeter each side on the back 24h prior to test. Dissolve Cymoxanil with salad oil as per 1:1 (w/w). Take 0.5ml of Cymoxanil solution and daub on left side without hair while right side was daubed with distilled water and used as contrast. Cover with one layer of oilpaper and fix with gauze and rubberized fabric. Wash off 4h later and observe and record skin irritant reaction in 1h, 24h and 48h.

3. The results:
According to the international criterion ”°intensity classification of skin irritant”±, average integral of rabbit was 0. Cymoxanil tech was classified as non-irritant to skin.
